Fennel di Firenze Seeds from Mr Fothergill's Seeds and Plants.
Large crisp white bulbs, with a mild 'aniseed' flavour.
Easy to grow and fast to mature. The feathery foliage makes an attractive garnish and is good for flavouring many dishes.
Sow & Grow:
Outdoors: sow thinly, May-July, where they are to crop, 1.5cm (½") deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-drained, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 45cm (18") between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days.
Thin seedlings to 20cm (8") apart. Water well until plants are established.
As the swollen stems start to develop, build earth up around them to preserve the whiteness and subtle flavour.
Harvest: July-October.
